Scattery Island dates back to the 6th century and was founded by St. Senan. It became a renowned monastic settlement with historic buildings such as a round tower and six churches. It also served as a military outpost against French invasion.

Take a boat cruise from Kilrush Marina with Irene Hamilton and her crew to the Island. A very knowledgeable tour guide will be waiting to show you the ancient structures on Scattery followed by a talk on the history of the area.

The Kilkee Cliffs are 150-200ft above the Atlantic Ocean located close to the seaside town of Kilkee. There are great views from this unspoilt location, view Kerry looking south of the cliffs and the Aran Islands facing north on a clear day. You won’t have any crowds or queues to contend with as you navigate the scenery.

The Bridges of Ross were once a trio of natural sea arches. Due to the erosion from the Wild Atlantic Ocean, there is now one, gigantic arch sitting in the sea. You can view the Atlantic waves crashing against the coast creating dramatic photos for any visitors.

It is a very private moment standing at the edge of this breathtaking location.

SCATTERY ISLAND, KILKEE CLIFFS & BRIDGES OF ROSS DAY TOUR ITINERARY:

Meet & greet with your personal driver guide in your hotel or B&B at the following locations and times:
o Galway 8am
o Limerick 8.30am
o Ennis 9am
Arrive at Vandeleur Walled Gardens, located ten minutes drive from Kilrush town for tea/coffee and fresh scones.
Your driver guide will continue to Kilrush Marina, meet the owner and host Irene Hamilton of Scattery Island Tours.
Depart at 11am on the Scattery Island cruise which is 20 minutes in duration. Choose to stay on the Island for 2-2.5 hour fully guided tour. Return to Kilrush at 2pm and travel out West to Kilkee town, stop at a local pub or restaurant for lunch and a pint or tea/coffee.
Continue to Kilkee cliffs and feast your eyes on some spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean, photo the unique rock formation and the rare flora by the coast.
Next stop will be the Bridges of Ross for an up-close photograph of this awesome, rock formation.
Depart the Bridges of Ross at 4.30pm and return to your hotel or B&B in Galway 6.30pm, Limerick 6.30pm and Ennis 5.45pm.
