Killarney is the home of Killarney National Park, Ladies View, Torc Waterfall, MacGillycuddy Reeks, Ross Castle and the Gap of Dunloe.
The name Killarney means, ‘Church of the Sloes’ or ‘Church of the Blackthorn’. It is pronounced as Cill Airne in Irish; Cill refers to a church or religious settlement. Carrauntoohill is the highest mountain in Ireland at 1,038 metres and towers over Killarney Lakes.
Taking a boat trip on Lough Leane is an unforgettable experience. There are many outdoor activities to choose from in Killarney, such as golfing, fishing, hiking, cycling, kayaking and horse riding. The town itself is famous for the horse & jarvey trips with the funny, local storytellers through Killarney National Park or to Ross Castle.
Muckross House & Gardens is a 19th century, Victorian mansion, located at Killarney National Park. Muckross House was built in 1843 for its owners Henry Arthur Herbert and his wife Mary Balfour. This Victorian mansion was renovated for five years in preparation for Queen Victoria’s visit in 1861. Muckross Weavers have been in business 30 years supplying shops with scarves, capes and tweed accessories.
Killarney has lively pubs with traditional Irish music playing seven nights per week, serving your favourite whiskeys and beers. You can taste a wide variety of foods in the award-winning restaurants from fresh fish at the Mad Monk, traditional Irish dishes in Kitty O’Se's to the most delicious Tacos in J. M, Reidy’s.
There are live music events in the Gleneagle INEC Arena Killarney all year round attracting some famous bands, folk singers and dance groups. Celtic Steps can be seen showcasing their world champion step dancing at Killarney Racecourse during the summer months.
Killarney has at least 65 hotels to cater for all price ranges and preferences. If you are touring the Ring of Kerry or Dingle from Killarney, our team suggest at least two nights stay minimum to allow for a relaxed trip.

Meet and greet with your personal driver guide at your hotel or B&B in Killarney 9.30am or Kenmare 9am.

Visit Muckross House and Gardens in Killarney National Park, made famous by Queen Victoria’s visit in 1861.

Travel up to Ladies View for some panoramic photos, overlooking the Lakes of Killarney.t

Stop at Torc waterfall which is 360 feet long and runs down from Mangerton Mountain, truly spectacular to view up close.

Continue to the 15th Century, Ross Castle, originally owned by the O’Donoghue Mór chieftains, for a guided or self-guided tour.

Return to Killarney town for lunch at one of our favourite restaurants recommended by your driver guide.

After a delicious lunch, drive out to the Gap of Dunloe for a horse & buggy trip through the glaciated valley, separating the MacGillycuddy Reeks from Purple Mountain.

Depart the Gap of Dunloe, 4.30pm and arrive at your hotel or B&B in Killarney 5pm and Kenmare 5.45pm.
